Normally when I would think of learning, it would be something school related. Maybe learning a math formula, or a vocabulary list for my Spanish class, or anything else along those lines. While I was brainstorming for this blog, I really wanted to blog about learning about something not school related. I thought about blogging about sports, but I really wasn't feeling that either. Then I started to think about my activities that I participate in after school. After a few minutes of thought, I finally came across an idea.
I was lucky enough to get accepted into the mentoring program through Action at OHS. I am apart of action, too. Every Monday from 4-5 I get to mentor two amazing second graders at Hiawatha. Going into it, I didn't know what to expect. I was worried that my mentee's wouldn't like me for the most part. Within a couple weeks of mentoring I formed such an amazing bond with both of my mentee's. Throughout all of this, though, I've learned so much about myself while having the opportunity to mentor two little kids that aren't as fortunate as me.
Joining this program was definitely one of the best decisions I've made. I've learned so much about myself and it is so comforting to know that I can only learn more. On top of that I've formed many new bonds with younger kids, and also some of my peers that I probably wouldn't have met if I hadn't joined this program.
